It has traditionally been used for new beginnings, cleansing spaces of negativity be it energies or spirits, birch tar specifically has a history of being used as an adhesive - making it ideal in spells to bind things together.
★ Coffee in Witchcraft - Coffee is associated with fire, Aries and Sagittarius, in spell work it is a boost of power, helps us to awaken, step into our power, clears blockages particularly energetically in the throat, and can be used for divination if you're feeling lost
★ Patchouli in Witchcraft - Patchouli is considered a staple herb in Witchcraft for sexual rites, as an aphrodisiac and for raising the life force, for love magick, as well as for Earthing and grounding work. NOTE - Loaded Spell candles MUST be burned in a safe heat proof container and NEVER left unattended.
Due to the herbs on the outside they can burn quite vigorously as they release their spell - I recommend putting them in a Cauldron.
