Sorceresses of Avalon spell votives are a trio of Spell Votives to honour three powerful Sorceresses from Avalonic mythology; Morgana Le Fay, Morgause and Nimue.
Within the Arthurian myth there is arguably Celtic origin, and I feel that the christianization of these myths has taken away from the power and beauty of these women, and I wanted to peel back the diminished ideas and represent these sorceresses in a positive fashion. All three votives are in shades of Purple, which in colour magick is associated with the realm of Spirit, transformation and magick.
These spell votives invite you to look beyond the myths and the negative stereotypes of women in power and embrace your own magickal potential without being apologetic for who you are whilst keeping in mind your personal responsibilities.
Morgana Le Fay votive - deep Plum Purple
Morgana Le Fay is a mistress of Magick, the deep mysteries, psychic abilities, spiritual guidance and personal spiritual power. Perhaps the most famous of the three, it is suggested by some that she may be associated with the Goddess Morrigan, the nine ladies of the Morgan being a different aspect of the Goddess.
In the myth she is sometimes demonized as a sorceress whereas her male equivalent, Merlin, is not. Morgana Le Fay is magick, wisdom and power, and teaches us how to embrace our uniqueness and walk a path that is entirely our own, even when others disapprove.
Morgause - Lavender - Lilac Purple
Morgause is the seductress who gets particularly demonised for her sexuality and desire for personal power. This particular energy reminds us to embrace our regality, personal sovereignty and sexual freedoms. She reminds us not to be ashamed of our wild natures and use our intellect, sensuality and even our wiles when necessary, questioning the double standards of sensuality and lust magick within self. Magick is ecstacy.
Nimue - Pale Purple
Sometimes thought of as the Lady of the Lake and at other times the pupil and lover of Merlin who sometimes is seen as saviour or destroyer depending on the story. Behind the myth is a sorceress very much associated with water and the energy of Rebirth. Nimue has the answers and the energy contained within is for personal reflection, solutions, mirrors; to show you what what is within yourself and the power of rebirth. She also helps us to overcome all difficulties and emerge victorious.
