Hades is the Greek god of the Underworld and Death; a solemn Sovereign Deity who demands the respect due to his office and who keeps the balance of the natural world by ruling over the spirits of the Dead. In modern misconception he is sometimes portrayed as evil (and indeed this can be traced back to the fear of death in Greek society as well as ours) but the only incidents of wrathful behaviour from Hades are located in myths where people try to cheat Death or escape from the Underworld which defies his Sovereignty and could potentially cause chaos in the world.
 
On occassion, Hades has even been moved to empathy; such as with the plight of Orpheus and Eurydice, showing that he is not beyond being moved by love; indeed his most infamous myth surrounds his own love life with the supposed abduction of Persephone.

Accounts differ as to the willingness of Persephone but I feel given that she became his Queen, ate the Pomegranate seeds he offered her and later used her powers to change the Nymph Minth into a plant (Mint) after being jealous that Hades would sexually pursue her, the myths support that She does indeed come to love him; and there can be little doubt of Hades affections for his Queen.
 
This beautiful spell line can be used to honour and connect with Hades in offering rituals or to petition him.
It is wonderful for opening the psychic senses to the Spirits from the afterlife and makes a powerful accompanying magical tool when doing journey work to the Afterlife. 

As Hades is also a God of Hidden treasures and potential, it can be used in spells to draw out ones hidden gifts, aiding in wealth or abundance spells, and to boost confidence as you seek to find out who you could truly be if you simply unleashed your potential. 
 
★ Birch tar in Witchcraft - Birch has always been at the entrances to the Otherworld for me; it takes me on liminal journeys. It has traditionally been used for new beginnings, cleansing spaces of negativity be it energies or spirits, birch tar specifically has a history of being used as an adhesive - making it ideal in spells to bind things together.
 
★ Linden blossom in Witchcraft - Linden blossom has strong associations with love, fidelity, wisdom, divination and protection. There are two myths about relationships involving the Linden tree, Philyra was seduced by Cronos and birthed Chiron, and Philemon and Baucis. Both involve the transformation into the Linden tree.
 
Herodot later mentions that Scythian soothsayers used linden leaves to obtain inspiration and foretell the future, while the Enarei people used linden bark for divination. Either way, the linden tree can be used for divination, especially divination pertaining to love. -flyingthehedge
 
★ Patchouli  in Witchcraft - Patchouli is considered a staple herb in Witchcraft for sexual rites, as an aphrodiasic and for raising the life force, for love magick, as well as for Earthing and grounding work. This makes it an ideal Witches herb as the parallel between the orgasmic and the raising of life force for spell work is rich in symbolism.
 
★ Pomegranate in witchcraft - Pomegranate is ruled by Mercury who facilitated travel between the realms of the Living and the Dead, and carried messages. Associated with Persephone it adds the magick of the "Walker between Worlds," (as I see Her,) and for energies of Death and Rebirth. It is also associated with Fertility - and as Persephone is the one who brings Life force and growth into apparently barren spaces, this magick can overcome blockages to fertility of all kinds.
