Badb
I see you stalking through my dreams
With Birch wizened teeth
And howling Chords... - Crow Speak anthology
Birch has always been at the entrances to the Otherworld for me; it takes me on liminal journeys. And with the retrograde energy being so strong & influenced by Pluto - there’s a lot of that Underworld energy about.
It had also shown up with regards to Badb, and has phantom associations as well as death/rebirth magic.
Bone and birch is rebirth, beginning again after death, cleansing out the cords that bind us to bad habits or destructive tendencies, a deeper cleanse, a new start. It has been traditionally used in folk magic to drive out evil spirits and negative energies by tapping the branches along the boundaries.
This spell range also honours Crow energy - the Seer, the Prophet, the voice, the carrier of souls.
The ritual caws of The Badb of the Morrígan can be heard in every inch of this powerful spell range!
This combination hinges on the passage of time through the cycles of life; Bone Witch magick is representative of Death energies and the energies of Silver Birch represent Birth (rebirth/life) within Celtic Witchcraft and the magick of trees; therefore Bone Birch encaptures the "inbetween" space of Rebirth; the pause, the silence and the quiet moments of personal contemplation.
Bone Birch represents the stillness and calmness of Winter, encouraging personal meditation and reflection, in order to help you to take stock of all the lessons you have thus far received and begin once again anew, renewed by this pause, and hopeful for the future.
Bone Birch also honour the Celtic Goddess Badb in her role as Phantom Queen, She who resides in those moments after Death and before Rebirth, who can be frightening to confront but ultimately teaches us the deepest lessons about our own shadows, She is eerily beautiful even clad in bones and Death.
Use these ritual candles to connect deeply to The Morrígan, the Badb, the Badb's wood, and in your own personal journeys of rebirth.
★ Birch tar in Witchcraft - Birch has always been at the entrances to the Otherworld for me; it takes me on liminal journeys. It has traditionally been used for new beginnings, cleansing spaces of negativity be it energies or spirits, birch tar specifically has a history of being used as an adhesive - making it ideal in spells to bind things together.
★ Wormwood in Witchcraft - to increase psychic powers, give one the gift of foresight, used to remove anger, stop war, inhibit violent acts, and for protection from the evil eye.
★ Rue in Witchcraft - Rue is a dispeller, used to remove hexes, curses, jinxes and the evil eye. It can be used to protect and ward against future harm. In literature, Rue can also symbolize sorrow and regret or the need for repentance. Ophelia, in Hamlet, wears Rue to express her sadness and regret over the losses in her life - which make it an ideal spirit ally for understanding what sadness or regret comes from generational trauma or the witch wound - and is not yours to carry.
★ Mugwort in Witchcraft - is the seer of the herb world - its spirit bestows second sight and unlocking prophetic wandering within the spiral of your psyche.
As we begin to turn inward in the dark half of the year we hear the call of the witch ways again - asking us to reclaim our power & magick. Mugwort flies us there on its silver wings.

NOTE - Loaded Spell candles MUST be burned in a safe heat proof container and NEVER left unattended.
Due to the herbs on the outside they can burn quite vigorously as they release their spell - I recommend putting them in a Cauldron.
